Articles are getting pretty redundant, you can only read so many playoff previews or power rankings, or award predictions, before they all start to get repetitive.
Don't get me wrong, there have been some pretty good articles here and there, but they are starting to get repetitive IMO.
Therefore i think some other ideas on how to get points should be discussed.
Lulu had another league that did Press Conferences. Owners would ask questions to another owner and he had to answer 5 of them. The quality/depth of his answers would dictate how many points he'd be awarded. I think this is an awesome idea, as one of the biggest obstacles to me for articles is just coming up with an idea that is fresh and interesting. With Press Conferences, owners don't have to deal w/ that stumbling block and can put in as much (or as little) time as they want. Plus it'd be nice to ask some of the owners in this league wtf they are thinking in regards to trades, what they are looking for at the deadline, etc.
Another idea is rewarding top teams with points. I think giving the teams in the WC & EC Finals bonus points would seem fair. To prevent the rich from getting too far ahead of the pack, I think there should be a non-weighted lottery for a non-playoff team to earn bonus points. Give each non-playoff team equal chance, and whoever gets picked randomly wins that bonus.
One idea brought up was to award points based on statistical benchmarks. Your player tops 50 points, you get a point. Your team scores 130+, you get a point. We'd have to set up which benchmarks qualified, and we'd have to determine how many points are awarded for what. I don't really like this idea because the rich would stay richer, plus the whole concept behind awarding points for articles was for owners to stay active, and u don't need to be an active owner theoretically for this.
But this is a classic "Turn ShoutBox ideas into a thread so others can see" so I'm including everything that was brought up.
Thoughts?
