Trade Committee Rules:
The purpose of the Trade Committee is to evaluate and make final rulings on very lopsided and controversial trades. Many GMs thought we needed an official process to veto trades if it became necessary.
Note: Please be very, very strict with what trades you vote to send to the trade committee. In general, if both owners want to make a trade, it should be allowed. It is okay for trades to be unfair. It is okay for you to think one team won a trade. In fact, that is expected that teams will “win” trades. Every owner has different opinions on what value each player and pick has, and reasonable GMs can prefer different sides of a trade. That is what makes trading fun.
DO NOT submit a vote to veto a trade simply because you think one team is winning the trade. DO NOT submit a vote to veto a trade simply because it is making a divisional or conference opponent’s team better. If a GM is suspected of vetoing trades because of ulterior motives, he will first be given a warning. If they continue the behavior, they could possibly have their veto privileges taken away.
The trade committee will consist of a pool of 9 members who are willing to accept the duty. These 9 members have been deemed as reliable, well-reasoned, and fair. If a trade is sent to the TC, Matt (or Poetic) will choose 5 members from the pool to vote on that trade. The members with the least connection to the trade will be chosen.
Trade Committee Process & Procedure:
1. If a trade is posted which you believe is bad enough that it deserves to be vetoed, you can reply in the trade thread stating that you vote to send the trade to the Trade Committee (TC). Please also include a brief reason why you feel this way. If five votes are submitted before the next scheduled sim, the trade will then be sent to the Trade Committee.
2. Once a trade has enough votes to be submitted to the trade committee, each GM involved in the trade has 12 hours to post their strategy behind the deal and “defend” the trade from their standpoint. Once each GM has posted their reasoning for the trade, each member of the trade committee shall post in the thread whether or not they believe the trade should be allowed. Each TC member should include an explanation on why they have voted to allow or veto the trade.
If 4 out of 5 trade committee members vote to veto the deal, the trade will be disallowed.
If a trade is vetoed, the teams involved in the trade are allowed to rework the deal and repost the new trade if they wish.
