Strength's
Gaines is coming off a terrific senior season where he earned 3rd team AP AA honors after showcasing an improved jump shot and better playmaking skills. Gaines is in a way a point forward. Sees the floor well. Defense is also good.
Weakness
Gaines struggles against small forwards even though he has the height to play there. Needs to develop a better lower body. He isn't the most athletically gifted player. Takes a lot of risks on defense. Can be a streaky shooter.
Scout's Take
Gaines had a terrific junior season where he scored 21 ppg and many thought he'd come out then. He stayed and diversified his game as he became the floor general for the Cards and has that ability now in the TMBSL. Good scorer. Still has lots of potential. Could be a player who could blossom into a super-star. Late lotto to mid 1st
