Well it's back!!!!!!!!
The 2007 Big Board and Mock Draft. Very controversial and very fun. Enjoy dissecting my board and mock draft. Like always I am very open to answering all questions or comments. Also in before Ian starts to bleed.
Overall:
I think this is one of the deepest drafts at the top. I can see ten to twelve prospects who could be center pieces for years to come. After that you have a few players who could develop into good rotation players. If you have multiple 1st in this draft its a good thing.
Draft Mystery:
When you are dealing with international players info can't always be trusted. This is the case with Spanish prospect Marc Gasol. Listed on the Big Board with A/B potential some rumors are going around the league that Marc my not really have A scouted potential. Buyer be ware.
Will Go Much Lower The He Should:
Marcus Williams is ranked number twelve on my big board. A very nice prospect who looks to have some nice upside he can come in and put points on the board asap. But with little buzz coming into this draft and some owners maybe wanting to take some lesser prospects with better potential I could see Williams drop out of the lotto to the late 1st round.
Another candidate for this title could be Josh McRoberts. His very low scouted potential could scare owners in the lottery away. But even as a almost finished product Josh can contribute day one and be a solid rotation player.
Will Go Much Higher Then He Should:
Sean Williams is ranked twentieth on my board. Unlike other years when you had prospects like Guillermo Diaz and Yaroslav Korolev Williams is far off from developing a second or even third skill set that could help him stay on the court. I am sure someone will fall in love with his great defense but he is not lotto worthy.
#1. Kevin GOAT sim league player Durant 18 SF B B+ C+ C+ C+ A
A year at UNC has paid off for Kevin. A year older and stronger this kid has everything you can want from a corner stone prospect. One of the best prospects to enter the NBA in recent years GOAT sim league player Durant will shine for the Eastern Conference Powerhouse Hornets.
#2. Chris Paul 22 PG B- B+ B+ B- C B
CP3 could be the best pure PG to come out in Sim League history. The total package for a point gaurd. Some may worry about his ok scouted grade but work ethic has never been a issue with this kid. Utah will have a log jam at point but CP3 is clearly one of the two best prospects in this draft and to good to pass up. Some GM's have CP3 number one on there big boards. Telfair may be looking for a new home soon.
#3. OJ Mayo 19 PG B- B B- C C A
The Wolves wanted to bad to get a top 2 slot. They end up at three and I think they go point guard. OJ is a great prospect. Not on the level of KD or CP3 but still going to be a top player in this league for years to come. I am not sure Mayo can be a pure point but I thought the same thing about Dwayne Wade and we see how that turned out.
#4. Kevin Love 18 PF B- C+ C+ C B A
I could see Boston going point guard in this slot and move Wade to shooting guard but why change something that is not broke. Boston has a bunch of players to re-sign including this off season so they can go in a number of different directions. I think GM Poetic will continue to build up his front court and select a very talented Kevin Love.
#5. Micheal Beasley 18 SF B B- C+ C- B- A
Another team with a bunch of holes to fill Micheal Beasley is the best player on the board and can play the small forward spot or power forward spot. They could go Hawes or Conley in this spot but I think Micheal is a better prospect than those two and a better fit for the Sixers.
#6. Spencer Hawes 19 C B C+ C B- C A
With point guard and shooting guard filled the Hawks will look to add some youth and size to the team. Spencer Hawes is the best center prospect in this draft. A solid inside scorer and defender Spencer needs to work on his rebounding.
#7. Mike Conley Jr. 19 PG B- C- B B C A
The Bucks have Mike Conley fall into there lap at seven. This draft is filled with quality point guards and imo Conley is the second best pure point guard in this draft. He is a excellent floor general and wont hurt you on the defensive end of the court. His biggest knock is will he go hard night in and out in the Sim League.
#8. Sean Williams 20 C C D+ C A- C A
Orlando needs size, size size size. They can try to get in free agency or they can help fill some holes in this draft. Sean Williams will give you next to nothing in the scoring department but he will help shut down the paint on defense. The Magic don't need scoring from their big's they need defense and Williams delivers that. I don't think he is worthy of this slot but I know a lot of GM's that love his defense and size.
#9. Rodney Stuckey 21 PG B- B- B- C+ C B
A combo guard, Rodney can handle the rock but has the ability to score in bunches. He is physical and can attack the rim but play off on him and he will knock jumpers down at a consistent rate. The Spurs need a dynamic player like this to save one of the worst franchises in Sim League History.
#10. Corey Brewer 21 SG C+ C C B+ C+ A
The Celtics are know for getting athletes who can shut down the opposition. With the possibility of losing Peaches and Udoka along with needing to Max out Wade a wing player should be one of the two picks for the Celtics. With Love being there first choice Corey Brewer would be a perfect player for the Celtics system.
#11. Jeff Green SF B- C+ C+ C+ C+ A
At this point of the draft you could see some moving and a shaking. But I think the Sixers need to get as much talented players as possible. Green is a player some have looked over because he does nothing great. But he does everything good. A solid rotation player with the chance to become more then that considering his potential Jeff can slide in to the Sixers starting line up at power forward or small forward.
12. Yi Jianlian 19 C B- C+ C C C A
Orlando needs size size size size oh wait....... Even with Williams in the fold the need for size is still high on the list. Yi may need to be stashed and considering the Magic do have a ton of cap space to go after free agent big's. Picking Yi and keeping him in Asia for a few years would be an excellent move for Orlando.
13. Rudy Fernandez 22 SG B- B C+ C+ C B
OJ Mayo and Rudy Fernandez back court complete. I think Wolves fans would be thrilled if they could leave this draft with there future back court in place for the next 5 years if not longer. Rudy is a slasher but can also fill it up from three. The problem with Rudy is can he defend his position and will he be able to get better. I think Rudy will be a quality two guard.
