Corey Brewer
Age: 21
Height: 6'8''
Weight: 185
Position: SG/SF
School: Florida
Inside = C+: While he won't dazzle you with impossible fade-away jumpers, or impeccable footwork, Brewer finds ways to get the ball into the hoop, especially for a Gator team missing Joakim Noah. Coach Donovan called on Brewer to provide more scoring and Brewer upped his efforts from 12.7 PPG to 16.2 PPG. Excellent finisher on the break due to his length and athleticism.
Outside = C: Brewer can be a competent outside shooter when his feet are set and he has an open look, but lacks really any ability at all to create his own shot off the dribble. Improved his FT shooting each year. Jump shot can often come off flat.
Handling = C: One factor that may put Brewer at SF instead of SG despite his frail frame is his average ballhandling. Brewer is reliable at hitting the open man, and making the right pass, but he will never be able to consistently beat defenders off the dribble at the next level.
Defense = B+: If you're drafting Corey Brewer, you're drafting him because you think he can be a lockdown defender for you year in and year out. He has lock down potential for the next level, and his length and quickness will allow him to guard both 2s and 3s effectively. His freakish length would be enough to be a plus defender in the NBA, but you really see his basketball IQ on display when he plays D.
Rebounding = C+: At the college level he was able to pull down boards due to his length and athleticism. He will still be able to do so in the NBA, to a certain degree, but he is still pretty frail, and if he plays the 3 (which most scouts envision him as) he will be outmuscled often, unless he dedicates himself to putting on good muscle
Potential = A: Defensive prospects like Brewer don't come around very often. It's pretty much a guarantee he will never be the franchise player for a team in the NBA, but teams looking for help against the LeBrons, Carmelos, and Kobe's of the world may look to grab Brewer asap.
