Inside = C+: Armstrong has a pretty raw post game, mostly due to the fact he only averaged around 10 MPG his first 3 seasons at UConn. His moves are improving, and he can finish around the basket, but he’s far from polished.
Outside = C-: Armstrong has very respectable range for a big, able to hit jumpers all the way out to 18 feet. Nobody will confuse him with Dirk Nowitzki, but he has enough range to keep defenders honest.
Handling = C-: Hilton has above average mobility for a big, and reacts well passing out of double teams. Needs to improve his handles to compliment his outside jumper.
Defense = B-: Averaging 3.1 BPG in 27.7 MPG in the Big East is pretty damn impressive. His mobility allows him to step out and challenge shooters, and also recover to the basket when opponents drive to the hole.
Rebounding = C+: Decent rebounder, but it’s not the strongest aspect of his game. Stronger opponents often flustered him in college, leaving some to wonder what bigger and badder players will do to him in the NBA.
Potential = A: Scouts were impressed with Armstrong’s production, as he finally got the chance to shine at UConn no longer under the shadow of Emeka Okafor. Armstrong is the definition of a late bloomer, standing 6 feet 2 inches when he began high school, and growing 7 inches by his senior year and then another 2 inches since then.
