The 2/3 point of the season has become a popular judgment point for teams and players. In baseball July 31st represents represents the trade deadline, the final push and the 2/3 mark of the season.
For us, the 80th game marked the 2/3 point in the season so I'm going to give a brief review of the winners, losers, surprises and busts.
Most Valuable Player: Tracy McGrady
Scoring a whopping 30.9% of his team's points, McGrady has kept the Bulls in playoff position up until now. While his candidacy will be hurt by his new teammates who will help carry the load, TMac has had an amazing first half. The Slam Dunk Champion has put up a slash line of 29.5/8.6/4.8 while contributing 1.4 steals per contest as well. The two top performers have been 'Zo and Paul Pierce, but their teams' poor records remove them from consideration.
Rookie of the Year: Zachary Randolph
Boasting a robust 23.3/8.0/2.2 line, Randolph lead the Rookie team in the Rookie game with 14 points. He also leads all rookies in scoring and is third in rebounds. He's been the only bright spot for the Nuggets who boast a 15-31 record and have only one other scorer in double digits.
Biggest surprise: Antonio McDess
Doesn't have the jump-off-the-page attributes you'd expect, but has produced jump-off the-page numbers.
