Bought-out players are placed on waivers, and it takes 48 hours to clear waivers. During the waiver period, any team may claim a waived player. If more than one team tries to claim the player, the team with the worst record gets him. If a player on waivers is claimed, the new team acquires his existing contract and pays the remainder of his salary (so that OKC would be relieved of having to pay any of Joe Smith's remaining salary). However, claiming players off waivers rarely happens, because there are some major restrictions on claiming a player off waivers. A team can claim a waived player only if one of the following is true: The team is far enough under the salary cap to fit the player's entire salary. The team has a Disabled Player exception for at least the player's salary. The team has a Traded Player exception for at least the player's salary. The player's contract is for one or two seasons and he is paid the minimum salary. If no team claims a waived player, he has "cleared waivers." This is what happens in most cases. The player may sign with the team of his choice at that point. The player's new team often pays the prorated veteran's minimum salary to the player. The player's original team continues to pay the balance of the agreed-upon salary buyout.

There is no way to make it realistic. Only fair.

We always say we want people to be active. To do a lotto goes against that very thought. I say first come first serve after a 24 or 48 hour period.

I was fine with that before, handful complained about that. Not going to sit these players out for a full season. So lotto will be the way we go. If people want to come up with new rules for be my guest, I'll consider everything.
But Haslem/Brown will be random'd off.

I don't think anyone was complaining.
I jumped the gun yesterday and posted 1 hour early for Haslem.
Then in shout box IIRC 20 said that he didn't think players who where Buy Out's could be claimed. Because of what happened to Keon Clark.
So we all were just talking about if we should or should not claim. So we decided to let you (poetic) come up with a final decision on the issue.

I would say let whoever wants to sign a bought out player submit a claim in the 48 hours following his buyout. Team with the worst record that submitted a claim is rewarded the player.
