5. Charlotte Eastern Conference Powerhouse Hornets (20/20/20/20): He is one of the only GMs in the league that has been patient enough with his team and not traded away his young star. It is paying off big time this year as he is #2 in the stacked Eastern Conference, and could continue to dominate as long as he builds around Rashard Lewis. The smart pickups in Keon Clark, Danny Fortson, and Darrell Armstrong as great role players alongside of Lewis are making great dividends. Probably the best pickup he made was getting electric scorer, Derek Anderson, who is averaging a healthy 18 ppg with 7 rpg and 6 apg. He makes a strong case to be in the top 3, but finds himself just short. Keep of the good work!
4. Houston Rockets (jpripper): Last year, JP lost basically his whole team and still made the playoffs only to lose in game 7 to the lowly Dallas Mavericks. Well he is finally fully healthy, and he is #1 in the standings in the horrible Western Conference. First he got 2 smart veterans in John Stockton and Latrell Sprewell for what seems to be two first round picks at the low end of the barrel (#28 and #29 to be exact). Both have helped him in his domination, with Stockton starting and Sprewell giving you solid minutes of the bench. Of course, how can you not mention the superstar that is Vince Carter, and how he built a solid starting 5 around him. When you have Big Z and Kurt Thomas on your team, you are almost guaranteed to have double digit rebounds from both each and every night. The young swingman and stud defender in Shane Battier, probably is second most valuable piece. He is probably the GM that gets swept under the rug the most, but he has built a legit West contender for years to come.
3. Utah Jazz (ohhaithur): The most active GMs ever in TMB Sim League history belongs to ohhaithur or as 20/20/20/20 likes to call him, Arthur. It seems like he is ALWAYS in trade talks with someone and making a move even if it is a minor thing. Obviously it works for him because he is chasing his second consecutive Western Conference title, only 2.5 games back of Houston. He sniped Jerry Stackhouse and Corey Maggette off of unsuspecting owners, Stackhouse who is averaging 26 ppg and Maggette who is averaging 17 ppg, both are huge pieces to what makes this team great. Of course with Gary Payton there you will always have a lockdown PG, but he also got Doug Christie away from IanBoyd, and that just gave him one of if not the best defensive backcourt in the league when both are in the game. Of course, how can I forget his prized possession in RAEF fucking LAFRENTZ, who surprisingly is averaging a double-double at 18 ppg and 11 rpg. Vlade Divac and Lorenzen Wright gives him a solid duo at center. But what makes ohhaithur/Arthur great is his skillfull use of the depth charts, probably the only owner to actually look at his schedule and makes his depth chart accordingly. Bravo sir.
2. Boston Celtics (poetic): No one has a starting 5 as star studded as Boston right now. One of the most improved players in the league is shooting guard, Michael Redd, going from just less than 10 ppg to almost 20 ppg. He also has one of the best big men duo in legit superstar Chris Webber and young gun Pau Gasol, both of them averaging 20 rpg, and don’t forget he still has Brad Miller coming off the bench. Getting Shawn Marion from the Nets was one of the smartest things he has done, seeing that he has become one of his most valuable players in the sense that he can literally do it all for you on the court. His best move ever was getting one of the best PGs in the league late in the draft in Damon Stoudamire. Averaging 20 ppg and 10 apg is fantastic out of a PG, but what his even better is he is averaging 5 rpg and almost 2 steals a game. If I was poetic, I wouldn’t move any of your top 5 for some years because you have got one of if not the best team in the league.
1. Detroit Pistons (rv12): In probably the most idiotic move in any sim league ever, Pistons owner rv12 took advantage of retarded Mavericks owner dumptime in getting one of if not the top player in the league in Tim Duncan. When he offered Kenny Thomas, Drew Gooden, Wally Szczerbiak, and 2 1st round picks (1 in 2003 and 1 in 2004) for Tim Duncan, it sent shockwaves around the league and made rv12 one of the most shrewd GMs ever and also made the Pistons a title contender for years to come. I mean he didn’t even offer any of his star players in Jason Richardson or Jay Williams for him, and not even young but still unproven SF Darius Miles . What was dumptime thinking? No one will ever know. Well, Jay Williams and Darius Miles didn’t last long. Just recently and with a whole lot of drama, rv12 did it again when he traded those two and two 1st round picks (1 in 2004 and 1 in 2006) for Allen Iverson, Jamaal Magloire, and Jumaine Jones. Of course this trade isn’t nearly as bad as the Duncan one, and Bulls GM Bankz got a fair deal for AI, but Pistons owner still got to keep Jason Richardson even though he gave up his stud young PG of the future. Allen Iverson is definitely worth it though, and now he teams up with Tim Duncan and the Pistons will be a team to fear for years to come. AI + JRich + Duncan will be a tough trio to face. Rv12 proves that he will take whatever it takes to win, whether it is texting user dumptime for Tim Duncan, or putting up with bipolar user Bankz.
