Atlantic Division[/u]
Chris Webber
The former crown jewel of The Fab Five, C-Webb has exploded as the dominate inside presence for a championship contending C's sqaud. Putting up a near 30/12 per night to go along with over a steal and a block per game, Webber is a Top 5 candidate for league MVP.
Paul Pierce
While Pierce wins the title in print, it just may be that P squared is the least valuable member for the long term good of this squad. The Heat appear to be trying to position themselves for a Top 3 pick in the loaded 2003 draft. The best efforts of Pierce however have made this an uphill battle. Averaging a 25/7 with a steal and a half per game and with such a limited supporting cast, the former Jayhawk has already won a handful of games literally by himself.
Yao Ming
A tough choice over fellow Net newcomer Allen Houston, Yao has provided an immediate presence down low for what many thought was a rebuilding Nets franchise. Averaging 24/10 per game the Chinaman has led New Jersey to within shouting distance of the top seed in the loaded East and even found time to spit shine my Stacy Adams the last time he visited Oakland.
Steve Francis
An easy choice, Stevie Franchise is the only Knick averaging over 10 points per game. A 26 point per scorer while dishing out nearly 10 dimes a game in the mold of Walt "Clyde" Frazier, at only 25 years of age Francis provides the building block for a rebuilding Knicks franchise looking to return to the championship glory of those early 70's teams.
Sam Cassell
A perhaps controversial choice over star PF Rasheed Wallace, Sam I Am has been the engine that has helped the high powered Magic offense run for the past 2 seasons. Cassell's up-tempo style has brought out the potential in running mate Cuttino Mobley's game and made for a lethal backcourt combo to perfectly compliment the interior play of Wallace and the aging but still formidable Hakeem Olajuwon.
Antonio McDyess
Hickory Dickory Dock, The Dyess Man says Grant Hill can suck his, ahem. Another tough choice, the former Crimson Tide standout and creation draft steal gets the nod over Hill for the mildly surprising defensive presence he has become for the 6ers. Adding 2 blocks per game to a league leading 13.5 boards and a top fifteen 25 points per game, McDyess should be a force for the new Philly GM to build his future around for the next handful of years.
Shaquille O'Neal
Maybe the most obvious choice, last years league MVP has picked up right where he left off. Averaging a nearly 29/13/2 per night, Shaq has led the Bullzards to there accustomed place right in the middle of contention in the East.
Central Division[/u]
Kevin Garnett
Atlanta's three-headed monster of KG, Antawn Jamison, and Ray Allen made this a difficult choice. With all three averaging between 20-22 points per game, Garnett's efforts on the defensive end gave him the edge for this honor. Seemingly finally healthy after last years knee problems and a few nagging early season injuries this year, KG has managed a 3rd in the league 12.5 REBS per night to go with nearly 2 blocks per game from his PF spot.
Keon Clark
No Rashard Lewis? No Darrel Armstrong? The UNLV swag runs deep with Mr. Clark my friends. While the perimeter game of Lewis, Armstrong, & Derrick Anderson may be unmatched amongst a trio in TMBSL, it has been the emergence of Clark that has fueled the Eastern Conference Powerhouse Hornets run to the top of the Eastern Conference. Averaging over a 9/8 and most importantly 3 blocks per game, Keon's development could be the difference between last years Eastern Conference Powerhouse Hornets squad falling to the eventual champ Toronto in 7 games and this years version knocking off the powerhouse Raptors.
Team Trainer / Tracy McGrady
With so many injuries in Chicago this season it's tough to name a true team MVP. When he has played, the sleepy T-Mac has averaged 23/8 and along with Jermaine O'Neal and Allen Iverson should provide the nucleus for an extended future run in the East.
Elton Brand
Averaging nearly a 25/11/2 per game at only age 23, Brand has quickly established himself as the cornerstone of the cursed Cavs franchise. Teamed with backcourt mate Stephon Marbury, the Duke product coul make Cavs fans forget all about their past failures and rekindle memories of the Mark Price / Brad Daugherty duo of years past.
Priest Lauderdale
One of the steals of the creation draft, the young Priest has avoided any molesting allegations while putting up a solid 12/7 per night and keeping the Pistons on the verge of a playoff spot. With the addition of dumptime cast-off Tim Duncan, a Twin Tower skyline appears to be taking hold in Auburn Hills for years to come.
Quentin Richardson
Yet another great creation draft find, Q has established himself as a future scoring machine for the well balanced young Pacers squad. With a core of Richardson, Lamar Odom, and Carmelo Anthony all at age 22 or younger, look for this to be a name to make consistent waves in the winning months of May and June over the next 10 years.
Michael Wright
On a team without any superstars, the workman-like Wright has helped to keep the Bucks afloat. The only Milwaukee player to be averaging over 10 points per game, Wright could make for a hot free agent pick-up for a title contender after the 2004 season.
Kobe Bryant
TMBS League World Champion. League leading scorer. Likely run away winner of league MVP. Rapist.
Truly a man for all seasons.
